ILKAP

ILKAP obviously stands for something.

It stands for Institut Latihan Kehakiman dan Perundangan.

And that was where I had my kursus last week.

And that’s about where you’ll come in asking me this …..

“What the hell are you doing learning about our country’s judiciary system and law?”

ilkap14.jpg

AhakZZ…..

You see …… in the enforcement, other than being kanasai pharmacists, we’re also kanasai lawyers.

When we go on raids, not only do we bust their asses and confiscate all their illegal items…

….. we then proceed to make them remember it by hauling them to court and charging their asses off.

We look at it as just another way of making friends and spreading the love.

Anyway ….

I found the experience over at the ILKAP a really wholesome one.

Cause for one the facilities were pretty good…

ilkap13.jpg

ilkap6.jpg

And the hostel rooms were pretty well furnished

ilkap8.jpg

ilkap9.jpg

But the food …

….as with all government sponsored kursuses, we had 6 absolutely delicious meals a day….

ilkap5.jpg

Like this here …… does this dish make your mouth water or what ?

…… Looks like dried chilli that your mum left in the larder 6 months ago and forgot about……

Food aside, the course entailed lectures and tutorials conducted by actual lawyers. So we had to learn up Acts like the Penal Code, Evidence Act and the like ….

And at the end of it all we had a mock trial where we were pitted against a real lawyer and made to present our case in front of a real judge.

ilkap12.jpg

ilkap10.jpg

So in other words a bunch of bumbling kanasai pharmacists with near zero knowledge of court proceedings and court questioning VS a seasoned 20+ years experienced lawyer ….. under the watchful and skeptical eye of a High Court Judge.

Sounds fair to me.

We didn’t win the case of course. But I must say the experience was really something. We learnt how to question witnesses effectively.

As for me ……. I also learnt how to be a witness.

saksi2.jpg

Cause since it was a mock trial, we all had roles to play.

And mine was that of the sad and pathetic investigation officer of the case ….

I think I answered quite kanasai ly ….

And I also think that’s probably why we lost the case.

Ahhh ….. but there’s something I really do have to point out …. something that baffled the hell out of all of us participants …

See the stairs there ?

ilkap2.jpg

Wonder what the sign says ?

ilkap1.jpg

Hmmm ……

So we have a flight of stairs that we’re not allowed to use.

They should’ve told us to bring our own ladders then ….. Kanasai~!

But I think the highlight of the kursus was this …..

ilkap3.jpg

This ain’t no ordinary shower man.

ilkap4.jpg

It’s a singing shower~! See the musical note next to the second button?

Now if you get bored while showering, all you have to do is press that button and there’s music in the toilet~!

WohooOO~!

I actually tried it only once. Cause when the shower started singing, I could actually hear my room mate laughing his head off out in the room.

Of course after awhile it got really annoying so I switched it off ….

 ……. my room mate’s laughter I mean …..

Kanasai~!

Roxy Summer Splash 2008 Experience

Band Related, My Favourites, Somewhere Elseon June 10th, 20087 Comments

Let’s start my Roxy Summer Splash 2008 experience with these pictures….

Being in KT for the past 1 and a half years, I kinda forgot that there were this many humans in Malaysia.

The fact was, even from the beginning of the event, people were lining up from the Sunway Lagoon entrance all the way to Sunway Pyramid.

We caught this view as we were making our way down to the Surf Beach. Down below people were jostling and pushing their way through, some managed to break past the police barricade and so chaos ensued.

I heard some people got stabbed and a girl got raped.

Nah ….. I’m just kidding.

But there were a few people who actually fainted though.

Of course at the back of our minds we imagined they were all lining up for our concert. We also imagined people jostling and pushing through just to get a glimpse of their favourite Inverted Coma member.

I think some people call this phenomenan syiok sendiri

Whatever it is, we were spared the extreme agony the others had to endure. And all thanks to this …

roxy10.jpg

So we went into Sunway Lagoon via the Elephant Walk. And the sight that greeted us ….

roxy11.jpg

roxy12.jpg

The crowd was raring to go and so were we.

We managed to get a quick snap before taking the stage

roxy14.jpg

See, having been relatively inactive for the past 6 months, we were rather skeptical about whether or not the crowd would accept us ….

roxy3.jpg

roxy211.jpg

No worries there…….

For not only did they respond to us, they even started moshing down below.

And once we hit the stage, the adrenaline rush was like no other feeling in the world.

But enough words already ….

We had David at the mic….

roxy15.jpg

 Me on lead guitar ….

roxy18.jpg

Ray on the keyboards and rhythm guitar….

roxy16.jpg

 Julian on the bass ….

roxy19.jpg

And Kev on the drums …..

roxy17.jpg

But on stage, we aren’t known as David, Jason, Raymond, Julian and Kevin….

roxy20.jpg

No … on stage we’re Inverted Coma~!

roxy22.jpg

roxy231.jpg

roxy25.jpg

roxy27.jpg

roxy26.jpg

roxy24.jpg

And rock the stage we did.

I can’t really remember a more fun and fulfilling gig…….

roxy6.jpg

A shoutout of thanks to all those who turned up to support us on that day, and to all those who indirectly gave us your support!

Also to all of you who were rocking your heads off down below, I hope you didn’t get too much sand in your eyes or get hurt too badly from all that shoving.

Cheers to all of you~!

A video of our performance coming up in my next posting …..

Un-Kanasai~!

You know what is potong steam?

Potong steam is when you come from a happening event like Roxy Summer Splash 2008, rock the stage, have it all on videocam then realize that the video and all the pictures are with your bandmate.

Kanasai~!

So there, while I try my best to figure out how to get the videos and pictures all the way from KL to KT ….

… Here’s an interesting place I went to the other day.

You just know something’s up when you take a look at the front cover of the menu and see this …..

duck2.jpg

….and when you take a look at the restaurant’s sign …..

duck1.jpg

… You find that their mascot looks like it’s showing you the middle finger.

Kanasai~!

My ILKAP Experience …. not really.

See here. Everyone hates witness stands.

saksi1.jpg

If you’ve ever been to court and had to testify in a trial, you’d agree with me that being in a witness stand numbs the brains.

You know you’re not doing anything wrong yet you feel that your every word could mean the difference between a man put behind the slammer or him walking away free.

But you want to know what’s worse than a mere witness stand?

saksi2.jpg

A kanasai pharmacist in the witness stand~!

Holy cow.

That’s what I was doing during my ILKAP kursus this whole week.

Testifying against good people and framing innocent guys.

More on my ILKAP experience soon.

The time nowis 1.30am, finished my kursus in the evening, rushed over to Sunway Lagoon for sound check, and tomorrow’s the Roxy Summer Splash 2008 gig ….

I’m totally exhausted ….. ZzZzzZzzZzZzzzzzz

You know you’re in trouble..

Plain Crazy Things, Somewhere Else, Thoughts to Ponderon May 3rd, 20084 Comments

You know your mamak restaurant is in trouble when ……

  • People ask for things like nasi goreng, roti canai and also sup kambing and your only response is …. tarah lah boss
  • People consider climbing into their cars and driving across town at 2am in the morning for food …… even though your restaurant’s next door ….
  • Your restaurant has only 2 tables occupied …. the first one by us and the second one by a group of people wearing your restaurant’s uniform ….. and the 2nd table has more people

tarik1.jpg

  • Your customer complains about your teh tarik ……… because it’s not sweet enough

Kanasai~!
